The Punica granatum Maxima rubra, a remarkable flowering.

The Punica granatum Maxima Rubra or Flowering pomegranate is a pomegranate tree that does not produce fruit. On the other hand, it is very decorative and will not fail to dazzle you with its splendid melliferous flowering of bright orange-red hue.

From June and throughout the summer, magnificent double flowers of a blazing orange-red, with a crumpled appearance, bloom. Enhanced by bright green foliage, they add sparkle to your flowering hedges.

This spindly shrub with a rounded habit and flexible branches reaches a height of 3.50 m for a spread of 2.50 m. Drought and sea spray resistant, Punica granatum Maxima Rubra is ideal for the seaside.

Fairly hardy, up to -12° to -15°C, the Flowering Pomegranate Maxima Rubra appreciates a neutral to chalky, deep and well drained soil. It requires a sunny and warm exposure sheltered from the wind. In winter, it is recommended to protect it from the cold by spreading a layer of mulch at the foot.
