Origin Southern Europe

Cyclamen hederifolium is a bulbous perennial hardy to -25 ° C. It is found in the mountainous parts of the Mediterranean basin, in the south of France, Greece and Turkey. With a height of 15 cm for an identical spread, the Ivy-leaved cyclamen has the particularity of flowering before even emerging its first leaves. Planted in large numbers, from August until the first frosts, it will form an elegant carpet of delicate, darker-throated pink flowers.

Only a few weeks after the first flowers, will begin to appear its leaves in rosette of a pretty dark green marbled with silvery veins, resembling that of the ivy (hence its name of Cyclamen hederifolium), these persist until 'at the end of spring, when the plant goes into vegetative dormancy. Its cycle begins again as soon as its first flowers appear in August.

Very easy to grow plant, it does not require any special maintenance, and is very resistant to extreme cold, down to -25 ° C as well as summer drought. The Ivy-leaved cyclamen thrives in humus-bearing undergrowth, especially well-drained and acidic, where it naturally forms clumps. When planting, simply place its bulb in a shallow hole (about 5 cm) that you will cover with a thin layer of heather soil.

Cyclamen hederifolium is a perennial to adopt for the beautiful light touch that it will bring to your shaded beds or undergrowth.

.

Cyclamen bulbs should be planted in the shade or partial shade (after having soaked for a few hours in water to rehydrate them). Ideally in the undergrowth, in acidic to neutral soil and very well drained, the bulging side of the bulb down, cover with 1 to 2 centimeters of soil, leave in place all year round (no need to bring in the bulb to wintering)
