Highly appreciated for its elegant weeping habit, the Himalayan pine (Pinus Griffithii Wallichiana) retains its superb appearance in all circumstances: covering the trunk to the ground, its lower branches do not wither. Ideal even in urban areas to give charm to large green spaces, this magnificent tree is perfectly resistant to pollution.
Native to Asia, Pinus Griffithii Wallichiana grows in the Himalayas. Remarkably hardy, it can withstand cold temperatures down to -29°C. This fast-growing tree reaches 3 to 4 metres in ten years and can reach a height of 10 to 20 metres, with a spread of 8 to 12 metres. Its pyramidal shape tends to spread out over the years. Its fine, supple, bluish-green needles cover it all year round. The needles are 20 cm long and are grouped in groups of 5. The Himalayan pine produces drooping cones of 15 to 30 cm, of a glaucous green.
Pinus Griffithii Wallichiana thrives in well-drained, normal to dry soil. It likes a neutral to slightly acidic PH. It can be planted in sun or semi-shade, sheltered from the wind. Planting is possible throughout the year, except during the frost period.
