Description
The Azalea Knap-Hill Whitethroat or Chinese Azalea Whitethroat is a shrub of Chinese origin. This variety offers an incomparable flowering at the beginning of May: made up of inflorescences grouped in fragrant pure white bouquets, with slightly margined double petals. This small shrub measures approximately 1.20 meters in height for the same circumference. It has an upright habit, with glossy green deciduous foliage, which turns orange tones in the fall.
The Chinese Azalea Whitethroat is hardy (-26 °C): it is strongly recommended to grow it in heather soil and to top it annually. It adapts to all exposures and prefers acidic, humid and drained soils: it can easily be grown in pots or in the ground, to decorate a garden, a bed, or a terrace. The Azalea Knap-Hill Whitethroat is very decorative: with its long green leaves and lemon-yellow flower buds, which bloom into clusters of bright white flowers.
The Azalea Knap-Hill Whitethroat prefers heavy weekly watering, rather than light daily watering. Mulching the base allows you to limit watering while keeping the soil cool. A monthly fertilizer contribution and an annual pruning, after flowering, contribute to its good development. To rejuvenate the foot, it is recommended to cut the old branches and regularly remove the faded leaves and flowers.
