Bearberry cotoneaster Major - Cotoneaster dammeri Major

Cotoneaster dammeri Major

(5/5) out of 1 total ratings

The Cotoneaster dammeri Major, an excellent ground cover.

Native to central China, the Cotoneaster dammeri Major is a shrub with evergreen and compact foliage, very vigorous, not exceeding 0.30 m in height for a spread of 1.50 m to 2 m, mainly used as ground cover. The twigs are naturally layered and quickly form a real carpet capable of stabilizing an embankment or covering a rock garden.

The Bearberry cotoneaster Major is distinguished from the type species by larger leaves, dark green in color, shiny on the top, more glaucous on the reverse. In June, it reveals a very abundant flowering in pinkish white tones which attracts foraging insects. The flowers are followed, from September until the end of autumn, by very decorative spherical red berries which are a delight for birds.

Not very demanding on the quality of the soil, the Cotoneaster dammeri Major thrives even in poor and stony soil. It is drought and frost resistant (down to -25 ° C) and tolerates both shade and full sun.

The Bearberry cotoneaster Major s perfect for revegetating an embankment or difficult area of your garden whatever its situation. It can also be installed at the foot of a tree or a hedge, which represents a significant advantage, that of limiting the proliferation of weeds.
