The Dogwood Empress of China is one of the few specimens of its species with evergreen foliage. Characterized by its magnificent brilliant green color, this generous mass disappears in the middle of spring under a thick creamy white bloom. Each flower then leaves its place for a very decorative fruiting. In the form of berries resembling raspberries, its fruits are edible and very tart.
Between May and June, the Cornus angustata Empress of China is adorned with a multitude of immaculate quadrupetal flowers. Its bracts are connected to a heart whose hue is reminiscent of lemon lime. Under this abundant inflorescence, its twigs gently bend providing a graceful port to the whole. The foliage of the Dogwood Empress of China turns purple and then bronze as winter approaches. Quite hardy, this Dogwood is cold-resistant down to -15 C.
The Chinese Dogwood Empress of China prefers cool, slightly acidic and well-drained soils. It thrives in partial shade and likes to wake up in the morning sun. Under these optimum conditions, the Cornus angustata Empress of China can reach an adult height of 4 m for an almost similar wingspan. It will be the most beautiful effect in isolation. In alignment with a free hedge, it combines with other shrubs to ensure successive blooms in the garden.
