Actinidia deliciosa Boskoop or Kiwi Boskoop is a fast-growing, self-fertilising climber that is highly productive, producing medium-sized fruit from September to October with a long shelf life. Its edible fruit is oval in shape, covered in brown hairy skin, with tender, sweet, juicy green flesh. This climbing fruit has highly decorative deciduous foliage, with broad, medium-green leaves. It flowers in May and June, with small, creamy, fragrant, nectar-bearing flowers that attract foragers.

The Kiwi Fruit Self-fertile Boskoop is fairly hardy (-15°C) and not very demanding: it adapts well to all types of soil, with a preference for cool, well-drained soils. This attractive climber needs to be trained on a structure: it grows to an average height of 5 to 10 metres, spreading out over 2 or 3 metres. To encourage fruiting, it is best placed in a sunny spot facing south or south-west.

Actinidia deliciosa Boskoop is easy to grow and maintain: it is a very voluble plant that only needs pruning once at the end of winter. To prune successfully, each branch from the previous year should be cut back to 3 or 4 eyes or, more simply, branches that have borne fruit can be cut back to 2 eyes. To keep the soil cool, mulch the base of the plant and water regularly, especially in summer.

Fruiting after 3 to 4 years.
