Origin Mediterranean Basin

Nerium oleander 'Villa Romaine', more commonly known as Villa Romaine Oleander, is a vigorous and very floriferous shrub native to the Mediterranean basin. Its sumptuous, lightly fragrant blooms grace gardens and patios from June to October, developing on numerous branches that bear its long, dark green, evergreen foliage. Preceded by dark pink buds clustered in bouquets, its pink flowers with a bright pink throat are composed of five petals with slightly pleated edges. Very hardy for an oleander, it tolerates temperatures as low as -18°C (18°F), making it one of the most resilient, as well as prolonged periods of drought.

Villa Romaine Oleander is perfectly suited to container growing, where it can reach a height of 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6 feet). Fertilizing with a plant fertilizer for citrus trees enhances its vigor and ensures abundant flowering. Nerium oleander 'Villa Romaine' is a natural choice for creating highly decorative flowering hedges when mixed with other oleanders. Under these conditions, it can reach 2 to 3 meters in height and 2 meters in spread. Planted as a specimen plant, it beautifully enhances a more modest garden (provide winter protection if frost persists for several consecutive days).

Nerium oleander 'Villa Romaine' thrives in a sunny location and prefers any well-drained soil, even stony and chalky soils. It tolerates generous pruning every 4 years, which encourages branching and maintains its compact shape as well as abundant flowering.
