The Rhododendron Halfdan Lem is a magnificent variety of Rhododendron with a compact and rounded port which will amaze you with its brilliant bloom of a very beautiful blood red, highlighted by a persistent glossy green foliage.
Of medium growth and size, the Rhododendron Halfdan Lem reaches in adulthood a height of 1.50 m for the same width. From mid-April to May, shiny red flower buds are born which, when opening, reveal magnificent flowers with 5 lobes, in the shape of flared trumpets, of brilliant red color speckled with small black dots. The leaves are leathery and glossy.
A heather land plant, the Rhododendron Halfdan Lem grows in acidic, cool and well-drained soil, preferably exposed to partial shade. Frost resistant down to -21 ° C, it fears limestone, drought and excess humidity. It does not require any pruning, just cut off the faded flowers to promote the next bloom and remove dead wood.
