Picea Abies Nidiformis, small conifer in the shape of a nest.

Picea Abies Nidiformis or Birds Nest Spruce is a dwarf variety of slow growing spruce, native to northern Europe. Its rounded and flattened shape, in the shape of a very dense bird's nest, slightly hollowed out in the center, makes it very original. As an adult, it forms a flat bush 1 to 1.5 m high and 1.50 to 3 m wide. Its short and rigid branches carry small tetragon spicy needles, light green in spring and darker green the rest of the year. In winter, its reddish-brown buds catch the eye.

Picea Abies Nidiformis is extremely hardy since it tolerates negative temperatures down to - 40 ° C. It grows in any type of well-drained and rather cool soil. He fears drought and strong winds; it likes in sunny or semi-shaded conditions.

The Norway Spruce Nidiformis will find its place in a rock garden associated with other conifers of various shapes and colors. Their evergreen foliage will give you a decor in any season. To dress your terrace, you can install it in a tub or in a planter. Isolated on your lawn, it will bring originality and color. Easy to grow, requiring little maintenance, the Picea Abies Nidiformis is the dwarf conifer ideal for developing small spaces.
