Description
The Morus acidosa Mulle or Korean Mulberry is a compact tree with limited development and surprising potential. His speciality: to amaze you every year with abundant harvests.
Elongated in shape and measuring approximately 3 cm, its fruits have a beautiful almost black or dark red colour when they mature between July and September. Juicy and slightly tangy, you can eat them fresh or make fruit salads, jellies, jams, syrups or even sorbets.
These tasty berries also delight birds and small animals. This means that planting this magnificent little tree is a very significant gesture for biodiversity.
The fruits of the Korean Mulberry Mulle come from a rather discreet monoecious flowering which takes place between April and May in the form of catkins.
The foliage, for its part, is of a beauty which, in itself, largely justifies the growing success of this tree. Strongly cut and irregularly shaped, the leaves are this light green, which is so attractive with its soothing and refreshing side. From the end of summer, they change to a golden yellow, which will illuminate your garden until winter.
With its 4 meters high, its short and robust trunk, its gracefully inclined branches, the Korean Mulberry tree is enchantingly picturesque.
Hardy up to -23°C, it resists cold as well as drought and extreme summer heat. Give it a good place in the sun, well-drained, deep and moderately fertile soil, and it will keep all its promises of elegance and abundance. In addition, it tolerates limescale well!
Planted alone, the Morus acidosa Mulle will delight you with the spectacle of its seasonal mutations. Set in a diverse hedge, it will be enhanced by small companions of the same caliber such as hazel tree, Maule's quince or even Alder-leaf shadbush.
