Description
A self-fertile, fast-growing variety, Ficus carica Goutte d'or is renowned for its resistance to cold and its abundant fruit with tasty flesh. Producing twice a year (biferous), this beautiful tree from Asia has something to satisfy all fig lovers, including the most greedy!
The Fig tree Goutte d'or has a height and a spread of 2 to 3 meters. Adapted to almost all regions, it is resistant to cold down to -16 ° C. Its flowering takes place in July and August. It announces superb figs with an elongated shape and a skin of a pretty golden yellow. Poor in seeds, juicy and fragrant, the fruits of Ficus carica Goutte d'or of excellent taste quality will enchant you with their delicious sweet flavor. To be eaten fresh, in jam or in a pie, they are harvested first in July, then from mid-August to September.
The Fig tree Goutte d'or is planted in spring or fall. It appreciates sunny and well-sheltered exposures, as well as rich, filtering soils: a bed of pebbles placed at the bottom of the planting hole will facilitate the flow of water, while a good soil will increase fruiting. And to create a real orchard around the Ficus carica Goutte d'or, you can accompany it with a mulberry tree, a Purple chokeberry or a Alder-leaf shadbush
