The Clerodendrum bungei Pink Diamond or Rose glory bower Pink Diamond is a small deciduous and suckering shrub. It is distinguished by its variegated dark green and cream foliage, its very fragrant flowering at the end of summer and its compact habit. It is an easy plant to grow in pots or in the ground in temperate regions.
The foliage of Clerodendrum bungei Pink Diamond is one of its main attractions. Its leaves are opposite, oval, 15 to 20 cm long, and have a wide creamy white margin which contrasts with the dark green of the blade with well-marked veins. They are purple when they appear. They fall in autumn after having taken on yellow and red hues.
The flowering of the Rose glory bower Pink Diamond is spectacular and occurs on the year's wood, at the end of summer, when most other shrubs have finished flowering. It is composed of globose terminal panicles 12 to 13 cm in diameter, formed of numerous tubular flowers with long stamens. It must be mulched in summer to conserve soil moisture and protect it from the cold in winter with thick mulch and a winter cover.
