Origin Europe

Quercus robur is an oak tree native to Europe. It is a massive and robust tree, appreciated for its exceptional longevity, which reaches 800 years on average. The Pedunculate oak is a tree with an imposing stature that needs space to grow fully. It produces fruit in bunches of 3 to 6 acorns, which are much appreciated by the animals in our forests.

The Quercus robur can reach a mature height of 25 to 35 meters and spreads over an equivalent distance (at maturity, around 60 years), bringing shade and majesty to large spaces. Its deciduous foliage, reddish when it starts to grow, turns dark green and then glows in autumn with the typical reddish-brown hues of the season. This tree is hardy to -25 °C and produces wood that is highly valued in carpentry for its hardness and beauty.

This large, hardy tree is not susceptible to disease. Quercus robur thrives in sun or semi-shade, in cool, not too dry and slightly acidic soil. It is best to dig a deep hole and add heather to the soil so that the roots can develop optimally. The planting period is from December to March. The Pedunculate oak can withstand long periods of heat as long as the soil remains cool and does not dry out too much, but it can also withstand sub-zero temperatures, although beware of late frosts that damage its young foliage.
