Oleander Mont Blanc - Nerium Oleander Mont Blanc

Nerium Oleander Mont Blanc

Nerium Oleander Mont Blanc, more commonly known as Mont Blanc Oleander , is a shrub with very floriferous dark green evergreen foliage. Endemic to the Mediterranean basin, it is found there in the form of superb flowered hedges. From the month of June, its many twisted flower buds give way to an extraordinary blooming of double white flowers with slightly crumpled and wavy petals. these flowers gathered in terminal bouquets reveal a pale yellow throat. Their subtle fragrance perfumes the garden until October.

Rather fast growing, the Mont Blanc Oleander can reach a height of 2 to 4 m and spread out 3 m in the ground (1.5 to 2 m in pots). It is satisfied with all varieties of soils, even limestone. Stony soil allows good drainage. Fairly resistant, Nérium Oleander Mont Blanc thrives in the ground in southern regions, planted in hedges or in beds, where it withstands temperatures down to - 12 ° C. It is better to favor pot culture in the north to keep it during the winter in an unheated room, protected from frost.

Pruning half of the strongest twigs in the fall or spring strengthens the plant. A good supply of water and fertilizer encourages its superb flowering.
