Witch alder - Fothergilla Major

Origin and characteristics

Native to the southeastern United States. Fothergilla major belongs to the Hamamelidaceae family. This rare shrub is prized for its spring pom-pom-like flowers and its flamboyant autumn colours.

  • Foliage: Deciduous; rounded, slightly toothed leaves, glossy green in spring, turning red, orange and yellow in autumn
