Description
Kalmia Latifolia Kaleidoscope: a superb spring bloom to discover.
Kalmia Latifolia Kaleidoscope or Kaleidoscope Mountain Laurel is a small shrub of the family Ericaceae particularly hardy (up to - 34 ° C). Its originality lies in its superb spring flowering, abundant, lively and contrasting and in its very decorative floral buds.
The Kaleidoscope Mountain Laurel is a heather plant, with bushy habit, thick, rounded shape. It can reach 1.50 m in height as an adult. Its evergreen foliage is a beautiful dark green gloss on top and lighter on the reverse. By the middle of May, there are many reddish-pink flower buds that hatch to give a multitude of cup-shaped, red-purple flowers edged with white. These are fragrant and very melliferous.
The Kalmia Latifolia Kaleidoscope is planted on a semi-shaded exposure in a cool, well-drained soil. Bring some heath earth and potting soil if your land is too calcareous.
You will install your Kaleidoscope Mountain Laurel in shrubbery with rhododendrons or other plants of earth of heather, isolated on your lawn or in pot on your terrace. You will enjoy its amazing flowers in the spring and its foliage very decorative all year round.
