Description
Native to the southeastern United States, Itea virginica belongs to the Iteaceae family.
This vigorous shrub is valued for its pendulous flower clusters, colourful autumn foliage and excellent adaptability.

Habit : Bushy, flexible and slightly arching
Foliage : Deciduous; glossy green in summer, turning mahogany in autumn
Flowering period : June to July
Flowers : Long, fragrant white racemes, 20 to 30 cm long
Fruits : Small capsules with little ornamental value
Hardiness : Very good (down to -20 °C)
Preferred exposure : Gentle sun or partial shade
Suitable soil : Rich, fresh, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained
Tolerance : Tolerates occasional wet soils; dislikes very dry summer soils
