Description
The Dwarf Mountain Pine ‘Mughus’ is a compact conifer with a rounded, cushion-like habit. Unlike taller pines, it spreads low and wide, making it perfect for rock gardens, slopes, gravel beds and alpine-style plantings. Its deep green, evergreen needles keep their colour year-round. Extremely hardy (down to –35 °C), it thrives in poor, stony or calcareous soils, provided they are well-drained. With its slow growth, it requires little to no pruning. Also suitable for containers and bonsai.

The Dwarf Mountain Pine – Pinus mugo ‘Mughus’ is a compact, evergreen conifer that thrives in rock gardens, slopes and alpine-style landscapes. With its rounded, cushion-like habit and deep green needles, it provides year-round structure and colour. Extremely hardy, it tolerates poor, stony or calcareous soils as long as they are well-drained. Its slow growth makes it low-maintenance and suitable for small gardens, containers or bonsai. Unlike the species type, this cultivar remains dense and compact, making it a perfect choice for modern gardens. A robust, decorative and long-lasting conifer for gardeners seeking structure and resilience.
