Eucalyptus parviflora or Small-leaved Gum is a persistent tree with a tormented habit and drooping branches, native to Australia. It has several advantages: it is one of the most cold-resistant gum trees, it supports temperatures ranging from -14 ° to -20 ° C, it is very easy to cultivate and undemanding on the nature of the soil. Its moderate size, from 10 to 12 m in height and 6 to 8 m in spread allows it to be planted in a small space.
With a beautiful evergreen bluish green foliage used to make bouquets, the Small-leaved Gum also offers young very decorative red branches. It is distinguished by its bark which exfoliates into long ribbons revealing hues ranging from gray to mahogany through to orange. Small, creamy white flowers bloom in late summer.
Eucalyptus parviflora grows in any type of soil, even limestone, preferably exposed to the sun. Install it in a well drained and fresh soil, enriched with potting soil.
