The Actinidia arguta Dumbarton Oaks or Hardy kiwi vine Dumbarton Oaks is a female variety of kiwifruit that needs a pollinator such as the male Weiki to bear fruit. It reaches a height of 3 to 5 m when fully grown, with a spread of 3 m. Its dark green foliage is very decorative. It flowers in May. The creamy white flowers, which are fragrant and mellifluous, give way to fruit which can be harvested from September.
Precocious, the Hardy kiwi vine Dumbarton Oaks offers large, round, light green kiwifruit with a special appearance: flattened at both ends and slightly ribbed (like a small pumpkin). Rich in vitamin C, these kiwaïs have a fine and tasty flesh, soft and very sweet. They are eaten with the skin, raw or cooked.
