Description
Olea europaea Cipressino is a vigorous and productive autofertile variety, its fruits are of good size and are appreciated for making oil or fresh consumption. Native to the Mediterranean basin, it resists cold, temperatures from -10 ° C to -12 ° C, but also drought and harmful insects. Its habit is compact and columnar, it has a branching that extends to the ground, like the Cypress of Italy. Its bark is polished and gray the first years then becomes black and knotty.
The Olive tree Cipressino reaches 3 to 5 meters in height as an adult. It spans 3 to 4 meters. Its evergreen foliage is dense which has earned it to be used as a windbreak hedge, its leaves are green-gray and silver on the reverse.
In spring, fragrant white flowers adorn the Olea europaea Cipressino. Flowering is followed by fleshy and green fruits turning purple and finally black. When picked early, the olives are tasty on the palate. You can harvest them in September-October for a table tasting or transformed into oil.
