Thornless Blackberry Black Satin - Rubus fruticosus Black Satin

Rubus fruticosus Black Satin

Resistant and self-fertile, Rubus fruticosus Black Satin or Thornless Blackberry Black Satin is a very vigorous variety of fruit trees whose twigs are thornless. From the end of July, it offers an abundant harvest of large, elongated, black, sweet and very juicy fruits, excellent eaten fresh or made into jams. It can reach a height of 3 m for a span of 1 m, it is advisable to train it against a wall or a trellis.

Rubus fruticosus Black Satin flowers in early May. The small pinkish-white flowers in the form of hanging clusters give way, from the end of July, to large blackberries with juicy, sweet and delicately tart flesh. The harvest is spread over several weeks, until October.

As the Blackberry fruit on the woods of the previous year, prune the twigs that have given blackberries to keep only the new shoots.

Easy to grow and resistant to cold down to -15 °C, the Thornless Blackberry Black Satin adapts to any type of soil but it particularly appreciates an acidic, fertile, fresh and well-drained soil. Place it in a sunny or semi-shaded position.
