Description
Deutzia hybrida Pink Pompon is an exquisite shrub with a bushy habit. It has tender green deciduous foliage with finely toothed contours. As the name suggests, Deutzia Pink Pompon produces huge and beautiful tufts of soft pink double flowers with a honey scent. In May and June, its extravagant bloom spreads out in generous clusters of deep pink flower buds which then blossom into sumptuous bouquets of honey inflorescences with a profusion of very compact petals. Its bark exfoliates making a nice effect.
Grown in cool, well-drained soil, in a sunny or partial shade, the Deutzia hybrida Pink Pompon easily gains a height of 1.5 m or even 2 m for a spread of 1.5 m. Hardy up to a negative temperature of -20 ° C, it also resists quite well to hot and dry summers thanks to a light mulching accompanied by some watering. It also supports pruning very well.
The Deutzia hybrida Pink Pompon attracts many pollinators such as bees and butterflies in summer. It does well in pots as well as in beds with a pink, white or mauve butterfly tree in the background, the admirable flowering of which it will precede for a garden constantly in bloom during the summer, associate it with other deutzias or flowering shrubs to compose pretty floral and fragrant hedges.
