Chitalpa tashkentensis Pink Dawn, a stunning pale pink bloom.

The Chitalpa tashkentensis Pink Dawn or Pink Dawn Chitalpa tree is a little-known small tree, with an upright and spreading habit and a short trunk, remarkable for its spectacular pink summer flowering washed with white reminiscent of catalpa. It is also interesting for its rapid growth, its good hardiness (down to - 25 ° C) and its resistance to drought. Able to reach a height of 4 to 9 m for a width of 4 to 7 m, the Chitalpa tashkentensis Pink Dawn is a very decorative tree which is suitable for small gardens, in shrub beds, in flowered hedges or isolated.

The very tapering and narrow leaves, dark green in color, appear quite late in May. The flowers begin to bloom in May and last until the end of August. Shaped like pale pink trumpets with a yellow heart streaked with purple, they are gathered in clusters of 15 to 40 flowers, each measuring 3 to 4 cm. Nectariferous, they are very visited by bees and butterflies.

Pink Dawn Chitalpa tree adapts to all types of soil including limestone soils as long as they are well drained, light and cool. It thrives in sunny or semi-shaded exposure. In February-March, remove a maximum of two-thirds of the length of the twigs.

An elegant tree full of charm, the Chitalpa tashkentensis Pink Dawn will bring an exotic touch to your garden.
