Syringa persica, also known as Persian Lilac, is a cross between Syringa P. Laciniata and Syringa Afghanica
Its spectacular flowering takes place in April-May, hanging clusters of purple flowers, tubular with four petals, intensely fragrant and nectariferous. The bloom is feathery and airy, creating a beautiful springtime landscape in your garden.
The Syringa persica is a shrub that reaches a height of about 1.50 to 2 meters, with a spread of 2 meters. Although it prefers to be planted in the sun, it can also tolerate partial shade. Its habit is bushy, with abundant branching.
The foliage of the Persian Lilac is characterized by dark green deciduous leaves, they are about 6 to 12 cm long. These leaves are oval. During the fall, the leaves take on a beautiful yellow colour before falling.
The Persian Lilac is extremely hardy, able to withstand negative temperatures down to -29 °C.
Syringa persica can be planted in all types of soil. It can be used alone or in beds to add a touch of colour to your garden. It is also disease resistant and tolerates drought and heat well once established.
Syringa Persica can be planted in fall or spring in well-drained, deep, fertile soil. It should be planted in a large hole with a side of 60 cm. Before planting, it is recommended to amend the soil with a good amount of compost to improve soil fertility. Well watered regularly until the resumption of the plant.
