Description
A horticultural hybrid between Viburnum farreri and Viburnum grandiflorum, Viburnum bodnantense 'Charles Lamont' belongs to the Adoxaceae (Caprifoliaceae) family. Selected for its abundant winter flowering and intense fragrance.

Habit: Upright, becoming slightly spreading with age
Foliage: Deciduous; bronze when emerging, green in summer, red‑purple in autumn
Flowering period: November to March
Flowers: Fuchsia buds, glossy pale pink tubular flowers, very fragrant and nectar‑rich
Fruits: Very rare on this variety
Hardiness: Excellent, down to –30 °C
Exposure: Soft sun or partial shade
Soil: Ordinary, humus‑rich, fresh but well‑drained
Tolerance: Accepts calcareous soils and polluted atmospheres; very adaptable
Period: Autumn or spring
Preparation: Loosen soil and enrich with mature compost or planting mix
Spacing: 1.50 to 2 metres depending on desired effect
After planting: Regular watering to ensure establishment
At maturity: Hardy; water only during prolonged drought
