The Black Elder ‘Haidegg 17’ (Sambucus nigra ‘Haidegg 17’) is an improved selection derived from the famous ‘Haschberg’ variety. It stands out for its exceptionally large berries and heavy yields. In September, it produces dense clusters of shiny black fruits, rich in juice, ideal for syrups, jams, juices and traditional recipes.
Beyond its fruiting value, it also has ornamental appeal: in May-June, the shrub is covered with fragrant white flower umbels that attract pollinators, followed by impressive fruit clusters. Hardy down to –35 °C, it thrives in orchards, hedgerows, and natural gardens.
